Hugo works as the Recreational Therapist at the VA in Honolulu, Hawaii. He requested a Supply Crate as he recognized the therapeutic value of playing video games for our servicemembers.

Aloha, my name is Hugo and I am writing on behalf of the PRRP (PTSD Residential Recovery Program) at the VA in Honolulu, Hawaii. I am the Recreational Therapist serving the Veterans who pass through our PTSD program and would like to submit a application for consideration to receive one of your supply crates for use by our Veterans. The Veterans who we serve go through intensive individual and group therapy in a residential treatment setting for 8-9 weeks at a time. In an effort to make the environment more like home, and offer them a creative, diversional, and therapeutic activity to engage in during their treatment, we are hoping to be able to offer videogames like the ones you provide, as a healthy coping and socializing activity with peers while in the program. I am aware of the therapeutic value videogames can have, especially when applied in a therapeutic setting. Your videogames can provide a way for Veterans to connect with each other, socialize, problem solve, and just find enjoyment in activities again through casual play, or even as a gateway to joining Veteran Gaming Leagues. I am positive that that a supply crate would have a measurable, positive impact on the Veterans we serve, making their journey that much more pleasant and enjoyable. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like more information regarding program. We look forward to hearing from you, and thank you for your consideration. ------Hugo, CTRS

At Stack Up, we love to see when mental health professionals see the value in playing video games for a Veterans and the mental health trauma they carry. We know how much gaming can help Veterans not only from anecdotal evidence but from research done which we have displayed on the Stack Up website under our Why Video Games? page. We also helped the Entertainment Software Association in surveying Veterans and getting more insight into how video games help when coping with life's difficulties and boosting personal morale and so much more. Read the results here on the ESA's site.

There are so many changes and moving parts to our program right now as we are transitioning physical spaces, we appreciate your patience. I have attached a picture of some of the staff that helps facilitate and serves our Veterans in the PTST Rehab Program. We look forward to using the equipment donated and implementing therapeutic programs to help our Veterans in their recovery journey. Do you know of any other resources that we may tap into for similar donations? We are looking at starting a video game based recreation therapy program and would love the opportunity to partner with Veteran friendly organizations.

We hope they get everything settled in their new place and that they and gaming can help our Veterans in coping with their mental health as they do their best to get better.

One of the coolest streamers around, Nerdy_Senpai sponsored the Supply Crate sent out to Hugo and the Veterans at the Honolulu VA. Nerdy_Senpai has been supporting Stack Up for some time now, even participating in Stack Up's Call to Arms LIVE event. Check her out on her Twitch channel.

We need to raise every dollar we can get so that we can continue to serve those who served through the power of gaming. Answer our Call to Arms to help Stack Up fundraise or donate today! Hit the button below to help out.
