Navy Veteran Jason is a Veteran Peer Support Specialist at a Veterans Village and reached out for a Supply Crate so he could provide entertainment to the Veterans he works with and have something to entertain himself.
I work for Mather Veterans Village in Sacramento, I am a Veteran Peer Support Specialist. I am currently trying to make a game room in the community room of the apartment complex. I think of the 100 Units at the apartment complex I could have about 10-15 to fit in a game room at a time. We are continuously looking for ways to get the Veterans out of their rooms and connecting with the community. I think this would be a good way for the Veterans to connect with each other and have somewhere to go when they are feeling down. We have an very diverse community here with age ranges from 28-85. Veterans from Veit Nam to OIF/OEF.

This is something we can definitely help out with! A new console and games will provide hours of entertainment for those at this Veterans village. Some multiplayer games will allow them to connect offline and build community with one another through gaming.
We sent Jason a PlayStation 5 in the hopes these Veterans will have a great time with it and that Jason himself will be able to use it to cross bridges with the Veterans he works with.
Dear Stack Up,
I want to sincerely thank you for selecting me to receive the game system and games. As a Veteran and a Peer Support Specialist this gift means more than just entertainment, it’s a meaningful tool that will positively impact both my personal wellbeing and the work I do every day. Taking time to decompress is something many of us struggle with, and having a healthy, engaging outlet like this gives me a way to reset, manage stress, and maintain balance so I can continue showing up fully for the Veterans I support.
Beyond that, this system will also help me strengthen connections with others. In my role, building trust and creating safe, comfortable spaces is everything. Something as simple as gaming can break down barriers, open conversations, and bring moments of relief and normalcy to people who may be going through difficult times. Your generosity is not just helping me. It’s creating a ripple effect that will reach the Veterans I work with as well.
Thank you again for your support and for the work you do in Veteran suicide prevention. It truly makes a difference.
Sincerely,
Jason
You are welcome, Jason. We hope you all have a great time gaming.
