Maegan is an Air Force Veteran who used gaming as a coping mechanism to get herself through experiencing domestic violence. Unfortunately, her PS4 died and she couldn't get a new one anytime soon.

I am re-writing my story as I realized that my previous submission was fairly vague. ------I served in the USAF as a medic for four years from 2016 to 2020. Every day was a challenge caring for the active duty population, but it was highly rewarding. I witnessed several traumatic events while serving my country as an EMT. Though I did not deploy, I was tasked with several duties which entailed medical standbys for Dignified Transfers at Dover AFB. These Dignified Transfers were extremely difficult to attend, and very humbling. ------Almost every week we would attend these ceremonies to say our final goodbyes to the recently deceased, which had passed during combat and/or training accidents while overseas. I did not realize it then, but those caskets with the American flag draped over them is an image that has been forever engrained into my memory. The ultimate sacrifice that those young men paid is almost too much to think about at times, especially since most of the deceased that came through Dover AFB were younger than me at the time. ------I married young while in the USAF, and little did I know that I landed in a domestic violent relationship. I used video games as a coping mechanism during that time since I felt very alone and misunderstood. I isolated heavily and did not reach out to my friends or family because of the shame I felt for being in the situation I was in. Video games helped me reconnect with my inner child and reminded me how to relax and have fun. Since I am now finding myself again and have gained the courage to file for divorce, I have found that I long for another chance to play video games once more. My old PS4 which I had owned for about 12 years finally died on me, and with finances being very tight currently, a Supply Crate would greatly benefit me right now. Thank you for your time and consideration of my submission.

12 years is a long time with a console. We're sorry that it died, but hey, we're glad Maegan reached out to us so we could send her a new PS5. We hope the new console can allow Maegan to engage in some gaming and help her relax.

Here are some photos from my supply crate! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. This crate will allow me to get in touch with my inner child and bring endless amounts of joy for years to come. Thank you again for all you do for veterans!

Thank you, Maegan. Game on.

Maegan's story is inspiring. Gaming helped her navigate difficult times post-Air Force, providing an escape from the trauma she experienced. Her PS4 was her lifeline, a digital haven during domestic violence. Now, with her console gone, a new one would mean the world. It’s like completing a difficult level in Geometry Dash , the satisfaction of overcoming obstacles. She deserves that chance to relax and reconnect, a fresh start after such challenges. A supply crate could be that restart button.

It’s really inspiring to see dedicated supporters like WintersWolfcry making a positive impact in the community. As someone who often turns to games to unwind and connect with others, I genuinely appreciate these efforts. Personally, playing Slope Game online has helped me relieve stress and maintain focus during tough times, so I truly understand how gaming can play a supportive role in people’s lives. Keep up the great work supporting veterans!
