Supply Crate – Nicole

Marine Corps Veteran Nicole requested a Supply Crate because as a Veteran she loved sending and receiving care packages and wanted to get that feeling again. She also wanted to have something she could enjoy for some good 'ol 'me' time.

I served almost 5 years in the Marine Corps and deployed once in uniform to Afghanistan. It was the hardest for me because I had to leave my 10 month old daughter behind and I missed her first birthday. I somewhat resented the Marine Corps for that because I never thought I would be a mom that missed a 1st birthday. While deployed I still wanted to take care of my fellow Marines who were on small FOBs so although I was deployed, I still put care packages together that I shipped out. Since I was already deployed with them they received my packages faster than the packages stateside. They would email or write letters telling me how much it boosted moral for them. Unlike the civilian world, people don’t care for each other. It’s every man for themselves and I just don’t believe in that. I now have three kids and I still believe in doing for others as it was done when I served. I do find myself a bit more isolated outside of the military friendships and a couple college friends. Receiving a supply crate would give me that euphoric feeling again like on deployment receiving a care package again…like someone cares about me. It would give me an alternative method of keeping in touch with military friends to laugh and joke like old times. To be Nicole and not mom for an hour…or so.

Hey, we get it! Getting a care package was often a nice feeling whether it came from friends, family, or total strangers. In our case, we're a team of Veterans and civilians who are sending out gaming care packages to people who are like us, because we can relate. We also understand that everyone needs a little 'me' time. It helps to be able to unwind and chill out for a little bit and enjoy something that feels like yours and remind you that you're still you.

We sent Nicole a Supply Crate and she sent us a reply:

Good Afternoon,
Thank you!! I received my gear!! I’m excited to get it connected and keep in contact with my old peers!! It will definitely be another outlet for me when reality gets too heavy.

You are so very welcome, Nicole! We hope you enjoy the new console and games.

AirwingMarine sponsored Nicole's Supply Crate. AirwingMarine is himself a Marine Corps Veteran who has been streaming because of a love of video games. It's so great to see Veterans supporting other Veterans like this and we're glad AirwingMarine pulled his community together to support this gaming care package. He's been streaming Sand: Raiders of Sophie on his Twitch channel: Twitch.tv/airwingmarine.

Gather your community and set up a Stack Up fundraiser today! Fundraise $1500 and you could sponsor a Supply Crate too. Hit the button below to find out how you can get started.
