Army Veteran Robin requested a Supply Crate because he enjoyed gaming as a kid and wanted to get back into it to make fun memories with his own kid and relieve stress.
As the saying goes, war produces many unseen scars. Of course in my case, like so many others, visible and invisible wounds exist. The physical wound specific to an incident while I was in combat healed in a matter of months, but PTSD has been ongoing for over a decade now. I loved playing video games as a kid and continued to enjoy it into adulthood. At present, I do not have a gaming console or system as I am not working, I do some substitute teaching during the school year, but no jobs came up for the summer. I have been focusing on making fun memories with my daughter, and trying to hopefully buy a house within the next year. I would love to be able to play video games to help relieve some of the tension and stress, and take my mind off of some things, and be able to play COD with some fellow vets, instead of just rookie kids who don't really know what real war looks like on the frontlines. Also, my daughter, it would be great to bond with her in a new and exciting way of video games, as I know she enjoys playing some games or did when I had a system before. There's a game called Stray that she played before and loved. Sometimes when I have a rough day for whatever reason, it would be nice to once again be able to shut off for a few hours and immerse myself in a make believe zone of games and just enjoy the excitement and comradery in some online gaming with some fellow vets, while also being able to get stuck in a solo play alone sometimes. I may not be the best or most qualified candidate for a supply crate, but I certainly would love it if I could be selected, and I know my kiddo would be ecstatic too. I'm just thankful for the opportunity to apply, and ask for your consideration. Thanks!
Stray is a pretty excellent game! From what it sounds like, Robin and his daughter would enjoy having a new game console they can both entertain themselves with and we're glad to aid a Veteran and his family so they can do just that.
Thank you!
I received my package today. This gift means so much to me. Not only do I now have another outlet for entertainment and stress relief, but another way to connect with my daughter. I am very grateful to you, Stack Up and @koinwithak for the donation. Please find a few pics attached for your records.
Kind regards,
Robin
Thank you for reaching out, Robin.
