Supply Crate – Monmouth University Student Veterans Association

Army Veteran Travis requested a Supply Crate for the Student Veterans Association at Monmouth University.

Hello! My name is Travis Wyatt, I was a Combat medic for the Army and got out to pursue and advance my medical knowledge/career. Recently for the past 2 years I've been there I've been a member of SVA (Student Veterans Association) Recently now took over as President of SVA at Monmouth University. My goal now is to not only continue raising support and fundraise for ie. Veterans, suicide awareness, cancer, and fallen soldiers families, etc. but I also want to give the SVA lounge/Veteran lounge at my school a well needed upgrade. I want to give the next veterans that pursue advanced education a safe space to be and unwind with fellow brothers and sisters that also served. Most times veterans hang out in the lounge with not much to do and just hang out there to get away from all the noise. I want to not only ensure I give the following veterans that attend a good place to be comfortable but make more memories with fellow veterans and know they never forget where they have been and done for the country. It's all about leaving it better than how I got there. As a former medic, I still pride myself on doing what is best and taking care of my fellow soldiers. I know that having games to keep us occupied and the veterans that continue to go there and use this lounge will appreciate and value. This lounge is also open 24/7 so other veterans that may not be able to go home or have no place or not want to be home, tend to use this lounge as well to get some rest and treat it as a home.

Student Veterans Associations do the good work of helping Veterans who use their G.I. Bills to further their education navigate college life and the VA education benefit system. The lounges run by Student Veterans Associations usually have some snacks and chairs for Veterans to relax or study. Adding a game console can help them relax even further between classes and facilitate some group gaming.
