Marine Corps Veteran Justin reached out to Stack Up about receiving a gaming care package as gaming helps him take a break and reset. His service was quite traumatic as he outlines in his request:

I'm an Iraq veteran, I was in the initial invasion back in 2003. I was shot in the helmet causing a brain hemorrhage and TBI. I stayed in combat for 3 days until I was able to get help. Being medevaced was interesting, taking a Humvee to a Black hawk. In the Black hawk it took small arms fire and had to make a hard landing. Getting into another Humvee drove to another landing area and getting into a CH-47 getting me out of Baghdad. Getting to the Mash unit, they checked me out and heavily medicated me. I woke up in the morgue area next to some deceased bodies I called out, some people came in got me and medicated me up again. The rest of my medevac is very foggy from there until I made it state side. Coming home was a major shock going from combat to state side. I was medically released from the Marines and found myself in the bottom of the bottle as my way of dealing with life. I used heavily for a year and a half before losing just about everything that mattered to me. I cleaned up after some intervention. I lucky met my wife and married. Now I'm unable to work. I find it hard to be out and about, I use gaming as a break and reset, as well as a way to connect with family and others outside of my home. I mostly play with my wife and nephews and nieces when I am with them or play BattleTech and historical tabletop games at home and at local stores. Than you for your time.

We're sorry to hear Justin went through all of that, but we hope by sending him out a console and games he can use that when he needs that break. We appreciate how much video games can give the mind something else to focus on while also offering up a way to connect with others.

Thank you so much!

Thank you, Justin, and we hope the new console and games get plenty of enjoyment.
