    Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite Review

Let’s deal with Dhalsim’s elephant in the room. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite’s roster is a huge step back from the likes of its 55+ character predecessors. Characters like Jedah and Captain Marvel are certainly great additions, but these are the exceptions and not the rules. The Marvel side of the roster is entirely filled with Marvel Cinematic Universe stars, with no mutants or Latverians in sight. Capcom’s roster, conversely, feels like they pulled punches, with a lot of the

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite: Deconstructing the Story Trailer

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite was revealed late last year at Sony’s PlayStation Experience in the wake of Capcom Cup. Ever since, we’ve been craving more information on characters, stages, hell, even release dates. Today, seemingly out of the blue, Capcom showcased the first story trailer for the highly-anticipated crossover. Marvel villain Ultron and Mega Man X villain Sigma are joining forces, and not just figuratively, either. The two fuse together, along with some of the Ma

dead rising 4 baby game babies

What in the world did Capcom do to my Dead Rising series? I loved the original Dead Rising, warts and all. I loved Dead Rising 2. I loved Dead Rising 3. Dead Rising 4? I’m falling asleep in my chair, mashing the “X” button to attack. Why? Because the game has been stripped of any semblance of the games I once knew. The original Dead Rising drew a lot of flak from the gaming community because it was almost literally impossible to play through the game’s story line without hav

five franchises deserve marvel vs capcom treatment

In the history of fighting games, few franchises reach the fevered frenzy of the Marvel vs. Capcom series. The fast-paced and colorful combat coupled with its fighting game community roots make it a mainstay in the scene, but it seems that Marvel doesn’t want to play ball for the time being when it comes to a sequel. Well, who needs ’em? Capcom’s done other vs. games in the past, so let’s take a look at a few prime candidates for the next. In the landscape of video games, non

    cryptark pax west 2016

Among the newest games at The PlayStation Booth in Pax West was an ambitious sci-fi shooter, tucked away in the booth. When I saw the words “Cryptark,” I immediately got excited and knew I had to play. Released in October 2015, Cryptark is incredibly engaging and immersive sci-fi shooter, with roguelike elements and a broad influence from the movie, Alien by Ridley Scott. While roguelike games, games that randomize their elements, have been around for some time, Cryptark doe

There’s something about killing zombies that just makes it an easy fit for video games. Perhaps it’s the fact that they’re mindless and only want to  kill us, so killing them is automatically justified. Dead Rising 4 isn’t about whatever moral quandaries I can cook up, though. It’s focus is on killing zombies – a lot of them – in the most creative way possible, and it certainly doesn’t falter in that department. Christmas comes to Willamette, Colorado, and with it comes serie

resident evil 7 vr hands pax west 2016

The VR component of Resident Evil VII doesn’t change the fact that we still don’t quite know how all of the spookiness translates to the world of Resident Evil. The playable teaser had a reference thrown down for Umbrella, notorious big bads of the Resident Evil universe. This VR demo didn’t add to that in any substantial way, and with the game coming out in a few months, the fact we haven’t been shown much of any gameplay is starting to raise eyebrows. The Capcom rep running

    street fighter v aftermath

To say that Street Fighter V‘s launch was controversial is an understatement. While the game had a superb foundation, virtually all the other fixings that you would expect in a fighting game were lacking. The story vignettes were poor and spotty, the downloadable options weren’t implemented, and character models looked rushed and unfinished. Street Fighter V as a whole felt that way, and ever since February, they’ve been trying to earn back player trust, with a few stumbles a

street fighter v june update hits july 1st includes ibuki balrog

Street Fighter V has had a tumultuous launch that hasn’t exactly been smoothed over in the months after its release. The promoted story mode along with two Street Fighter veterans Ibuki and Balrog are set to be released this Friday, July 1st. As was the case with Guile and Alex, these characters will be free until Capcom implements their second, premium currency, whenever that may be. Just think of this free time with the new characters as a “try before you buy” scenario. The

deadrising 4 leaked posters gameplay images shown

DeadRising’s been a steady Capcom franchise in the last decade, starting as a huge, sprawling example of what the Xbox 360 could do. Looking back, it’s a little more dated than we’d like to imagine, but the series has pressed on. It’s been reported that DeadRising 4 has some exclusivity deal going for it. Given that most of its predecessors have a history with Microsoft and Xbox, it’s not a stretch to see this game hit Xbox Ones and PCs in the near future. Source: This Gen Ga

    street fighter v review

The balancing act of accommodating fighting game fans and casual gamers has been a struggle for many franchises. Street Fighter IV rejuvinated the fighting game genre in 2008. Since then, the industry has changed – for better and for worse. The same can be said with Capcom’s latest entry into the biggest fighting game franchise in the world. Many strides have been made to push Street Fighter into having just the bare essentials. This sentiment rings true not just for the game
