Supply Crate – GI Bill

We here at Stack Up receive a lot of Supply Crate requests from all over, and not all of them come from military units or veterans. This interesting request comes to us from Molly, who is a Student Veterans Advisor for Baruch College.

Keep reading and check out the full request below…

My name is Molly Pearl and I am the Student Veteran Advisor at Baruch College (and personally, the spouse and caregiver of a Post 9/11 Army veteran.) I am submitting this application as the point of contact for our Student Veteran Association at Baruch College.
We have 154 veterans, military family members, guardsmen and reservists at Baruch representing the Army, Marines, Navy, and Air Force (no Coasties at the moment.) Roughly 75% of our students are attending school using Post 9/11 GI Bill benefits, with another 20% using Vocational Rehabilitation and a hand-full using TA or other scholarships.

Supply Crate

From my work with Baruch veterans I can attest that we are a scrappy bunch! We have Gulf War, OEF and OIF veterans, many with multiple deployments during their service. Many of our veterans have families, work multiple jobs, speak 2-3 languages, and come to Baruch to set themselves up for success in the Finance, Marketing, and Accounting sectors. In my 8+ years of working with active duty soldiers and veterans, I can honestly report that I have never seen such a driven and dedicated group. We have an active Student Veteran Association, and our veterans regularly stop by the lounge space.
While the room is small and homey, it is recognized as a space to gather and build community. In particular, Baruch’s SVA requested I submit this application so that we can use the video game systems as a way of bringing people together, host tournaments, and provide some much needed “off” time during midterms and finals.

We were only too happy to help outfit these veterans and get their lounge space up to snuff. Thanks to the help of the Streamers from Project 168 for answering the Call To Arms we were able to get this crate sent on the way.

When Molly and the other student received it they wrote back and sent along some pictures.

Apologies, the beginning of the semester is getting the best of us. Yes, we had an unboxing with the VP of the student vet association and he was SO blown away by how awesome everything was.

Tomorrow is the club fair here at Baruch and we’re going to get everyone together to take photos.

Thanks so much, Molly for the photos! We hope the games go a long way to providing a much-needed break.

If you’d like to make a donation that gets sent over to our troops as a Supply Crate, Stack-Up takes lightly used PS4, and Xbox One games and gear as well as cash donations. Please help us help these vets out here:
