Supply Crate – Devin

Devin requested a Supply Crate to give himself a positive outlet after his service in the Army National Guard has left its mark on him physically and mentally.

I have served 12 years in the Army National Guard as an mortarmen . I’ve completed two combat deployments to Afghanistan and Syria, where I faced the daily reality of incoming Rockets drone threats in burn pit, exposure. My job required carrying heavy mortar systems and working around constant blast pressure, which has left me with neck and back injury, tinnitus migraines, and some memory issues. The physical strain was only part of the challenge. The mental demands of deployment pushing through fear and staying focused for my soldiers left lasting effects. I continue to deal with PTSD anxiety and I've been having a lot of troubles keep mine occupied so I have sleeping issues too., which affect both my personal life and my service. Despite these struggles, I remain committed to my fellow Guardsmen. I mentor, support, and lead, because I know how much it matters to have someone who understands. What makes me and my group strong candidates for a Stack Up Supply Crate is not just our service, but our dedication to moving forward together while finding healthy ways to cope. A Supply Crate would mean far more than games or gear. It would give me a positive outlet for long nights and tough days, and for my group, it would strengthen our camaraderie and morale. It’s a reminder that we are not alone that others care about our wellbeing and want to support us through the challenges of service and beyond.

One of our favorite parts about sending out Supply Crates is knowing that we are helping Veterans like us who are struggling with, or have previously struggled with, physical and mental health post-service. Gaming for many of us here at Stack Up has helped us through tough times. Playing games and building community with other Veterans like us is a good reminder of how much impact we can have on Veterans like Devin.

Thank you so much for the Nintendo Switch and the games. This gift means a lot to me. It’s giving me a chance to reconnect with the classic Nintendo games I grew up with, and more importantly, it’s creating a way for me to bond with my son. We’re already making great memories together because of your generosity, and I’m truly grateful.
