PAX East 2018: Star Child Demo

Metroidvania Meets VR in Star Child, Short Demo at PAX East! PAX East 2018 has begun, and so has Stack-Up’s coverage of the convention! In the short hour of media access to the convention floor, one of the games that caught Stack-Up’s attention was an indie game called Star Child, created by Playful Corp. and GameTrust. The game was announced back in last year’s Paris Games Week, and while there doesn’t seem to be much info out about the game, what’s present at PAX East shows

    xeodrifter review

Xeodrifter is a reminder of games that have had such a profound impact on the medium, that they continued to be experimented with today. It’s hard to believe that it has been 29 years since Nintendo ushered in Metroid, a game that not only brought forth a dark, action packed universe of alien bounty hunting but also introduced the term “Metroidvania.” Since then, many games have adopted Metroidvania gameplay mechanics, such as Batman Arkham Origins: Blackgate and the most rec

Released in October 2015, Cryptark is incredibly engaging and immersive sci-fi shooter, with roguelike elements and a broad influence from the movie, Alien by Ridley Scott. While roguelike games, games that randomize their elements, have been around for some time, Cryptark doe

    song deep hands rtx 2016

Song of The Deep, done by Insomniac Games, was the first game I had the privilege of trying out at RTX and I can’t say as I was disappointed. Call me shallow, but whimsical style graphics catch my attention EVERY SINGLE TIME and this time was certainly no different. Watching someone else play as I walked by was enough to make me want to try out the completed version of the game that they were letting people demo. You start out as a girl whose father has traveled out at sea an

    salt and sanctuary review ps4

With Dark Souls 3 a fewshort weeks away, Ska Studio’s release of Salt and Sanctuary was just the perfect amount of “kick-you-in-the-privates” level of gameplay to whet one’s appetite for difficult and unforgiving gameplay. Salt and Sanctuary is a two-dimensional side scrolling action adventure game that skates a very thin line between a love letter to Dark Souls and hewing a little bit too close to the reference material. Storyline in Salt and Sanctuary, as they are borrowin
