The Pittsburgh Chapter of The Stacks, Stacks Up for Stand Down By: Fred Telles
The Pittsburgh Chapter of The Stacks joined forces with Veterans Leadership Program and many other veteran resources for the Stand Down Pittsburgh 2018 event. The event was held to help show the resources available to veterans and also provided supplies, showers, and haircuts for homeless veterans.
During the event we ended up getting a table as one of the vendors were a no-show. While Marley and KaptanOblivious manned the table I walked around to some of the different tables and actually made some good contacts for places that will advertise our events to local veterans. We also made a strong push about the StOP program and even made a great contact with NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illnesses). We even made some veterans happy when handing out clothing, food, and hygiene products to them.
All in all I found the event to be successful, I look forward to working with them again in the future. We have already started talking to them about walking with them in the veterans day parade, so stay tuned for more information regarding that.
