Supply Crate – Michael

Michael is an Army Veteran with 2 combat deployments under his belt who lost his purpose post-service. As a result he ended up battling an addiction to alcohol. He requested a Supply Crate for The Redemption Project, a sober living community, so they could put it in their day room and game together.

Hey there my name is Michael. I am a 12yr army veteran! I served from 2009 to 2022. I have 2 combat deployments (Afghanistan) and one over seas tour to Camp Humphreys Korea. Upon leaving the Army I have obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant --- --- However upon leaving the army I became a veteran who lost his purpose. I did not deal with my trauma from deployments properly. I turned to alcohol for my solution. --- --- I am currently residing n a sober living community here in Colorado Springs called The Redemption Project, where several other veterans stay as well as civilians as well. In the time of this writing (July 13th 2024) I am 90 days sober. --- --- I am also a House Manager for my community, so my role is to help take care of my residents needs, just like I was an NCO. --- --- During my time in recovery I have found that COMMUNITY is a pillar to recover as no one can recover alone. --- --- It would mean a lot to these guys here to have some sort of relaxation tools. Whether it be a console or board games, our day room is lacking. We do have a tv but again we don’t have a true ways for guys to relax after finding jobs, volunteering in the community or here at the house…outside of sleeping lol. --- --- Thank you all for what you do and your considerations

It's tough out there for Veterans after being conditioned to take orders and serve only to come straight home and have to rewire into civilian life. This can lead to Veterans turning to unhealthy coping. We get it however, and we congratulate Michael on his sobriety and hope he continues on in his journey!

We were glad to send on this Supply Crate in the hopes it can provide fun, morale and a way of connecting for Michael and those around him.
