Eric is an Army Veteran who realized he was isolated, and he wanted to get a new game console to help him break out of that.

I think I would make a good candidate. After coming across the organizations web page, I am sure this would help myself and my family reconnect with my fellow veterans and others through gaming. Since exiting the US Army, I’ve become more secluded and stay to myself. It wasn’t intentional. I thought I could interact with people when I wanted but that wasn’t the case. I feel like this would help me break the ice and slowly get back to that type of camaraderie and healthy engagement with other people. I have a combined 11 years of service with 8yrs Active duty and 3 years reserve. I have deployed one time to Iraq. I thank you guys for the opportunity to express my need.

Isolation is one of the major factors in why so many Veterans end up struggling with their mental health. Losing the constant presence and camaraderie of their fellow troops leaves a hole in the lives of some Vets as they adjust to civilian life. Stack Up uses gaming to help our fellow Veterans reconnect with other Veterans and game together to support each other's mental health.

We sent Eric a PlayStation 5, and he sent us a reply:

Hello,
I am Eric. Thank you for the Stack Up package. I am greatly appreciative and this will be a great impact on me because this helps to get me out of my reclusive shell. Since the military, I have found it hard to reach out to people when I need a shoulder to lean on. This has directly brought me back to the gaming community of friends and fellow veterans that play video games. I’ve already reconnected with 3 veterans from my service. On top of that, my sons have gotten to overhear the stories of my service and some of the good times we had while in. I’m thankful they got to hear with their own ears as they were not born when I was in the military. This has helped me in more ways than I can explain.
Thank you!
Eric

We're glad we could help, Eric. Enjoy lots of gaming!

GameswithDeath sponsored Eric's Supply Crate. GameswithDeath has retired from streaming, but we're grateful that during his time, he chose to run a fundraiser and, with the help of his community, raise the $1500 needed to sponsor a gaming care package. Should GameswithDeath ever return to streaming, here's his Twitch channel: Twitch.tv/gameswithdeath
