Supply Crate – Donte

Navy Veteran Donte requested a Supply Crate so he could get a game console, which was out of his reach due to his financial situation, to help with his PTSD.

My name is Donte and I am a Navy veteran, I was part of "Operation Iraqi freedom". My command was also tasked with being RESPONDERS for the USS Cole (DDG-67) bombing in 2000. Even with all my accolades and achievements in life, nothing could ever prepare me for homelessness. I went from being a proud service member of the armed forces to becoming another statistic on the streets of Skid Row. There were times I wondered how my life ended up there. For 5 years, I've listened and heard things that one should never be subjected to. That's when I decided to take the time to self-reflect on myself and the decisions I had made that got me to where I was at and the necessary steps that would be required to achieve living a life that's worth remembering

A lot of Veterans go through a tough time post-service, especially if they lack the support of a community. Many of us have been there, and we support the mission of Stack Up to help others who have been through it.

Just wanted to let you know that I received the crate. I can't thank you enough for picking me as a recipient of one of your supply crates. This is something that I've been wanting for quite some time now but due to unforeseen circumstances I was unable to achieve. This will help with my PTSD In many ways. I have not been able to have an outlet like this in a very long time. When I was younger I considered myself a gamer then time went by and as I got older I played less and less until I played no more.

This will definitely help me relax, continue to build my hand-eye coordination and, keep my mental state strong and focused. Thanks again for everything.
