Supply Crate – Christopher

Christopher was nominated for a Supply Crate by his wife, who hopes that a console and games will help him stay away from other coping mechanisms that are not healthy for his mental health.

My husband works very hard, often with little time for himself or to “play”. He has a history of PTSD, Anxiety Disorder, alcoholism and Depressive Disorder. He often cannot let loose as he is always high strung. He retired June 1st 2024 from the Marines. He had a couple deployments in his career, one to Iraq and one to Djibouti. I think he is having a hard time transitioning out of the military and want him to be able to dedicate time to himself away from me and the kids where and can do some mindless games. I know he wants to be a better dad, husband , man in general, he sometimes goes down these dark paths where he shuts everything down. I’m looking to try this as a way for him to cope and hopefully help him step away from alcohol and prescription drugs from the VA. They are always prescribing more and more to him. Transitioning out of the Military is indeed difficult. Not only because our Veterans are often left without that sense of camaraderie they had while serving, but it takes plenty of time and exposure to civilian life to adjust to the differences. Having mental health struggles on top of transitioning out can make it feel all the worse. In Christopher's case, it sounds like he could use something to focus on that can help.
