Supply Crate – Andrea

Navy Veteran Andrea requested a Supply Crate because she's been dealing with challenges from her PTSD and wanted a game console to help her deal with her stress.

As a veteran living with service-connected Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), daily life presents continuous challenges. The invisible wounds of war often leave me isolated, anxious, and struggling to find healthy ways to cope, especially during these trying times when community engagement and access to therapeutic outlets can be limited. I am respectfully requesting a gaming system with games as a form of support. Video games offer more than just entertainment—they provide a meaningful form of mental engagement, distraction from intrusive thoughts, and a sense of connection through online communities and cooperative gameplay. Many veterans like myself use gaming to manage symptoms of PTSD, such as hypervigilance, insomnia, and social withdrawal. Having access to a gaming system would help me build structure into my day, reduce stress, and stay mentally active in a way that feels safe and manageable. It would also offer a much-needed source of joy, normalcy, and social interaction that can be hard to find when you’re living with PTSD. This support would make a significant difference in my mental health and overall well-being. I am deeply grateful for your consideration and for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Gaming can help with most of the symptoms of PTSD. Through gaming, Veterans have been able to socialize, breaking out of isolation. Playing a relaxing game can help when managing stress. Puzzle and strategy games have been found to be great for processing traumatic events and much more.

We hope that by sending Andrea a new console and games, she'll be able to relax and find new friends through gaming.
