An evil empire has enslaved the land and has used incredibly deadly weapons against innocent people, including nuclear weapons. This war, however, is unlike any other, for time is everything in this conflict. This evil empire has managed to turn time into a weapon, keeping the land in a perpetual state of endless war. For every struggle, however, there are those willing to defy the odds for their families, their country, and honor. This is the world of Sine Mora EX from Grasshopper Manufacture, Suda 51, and Digital Reality.
Sine Mora is a side-scrolling spaceship shooter, where players are thrust into a devastating war in the past and the future. In this Dystopia, players take the role of anthropomorphic creatures that are determined to finally end the war once and for all. Players will battle hundreds of enemies and tall, towering bosses, as well as navigate a gauntlet of obstacles in order to achieve victory.
Sine Mora is a spaceship shooter, similar to Soldern X2 and Skyforce Anniversary, but where the game is set apart is for the use of time manipulation. Players will have access to a special device that will allow them to slow down time, as well as keep them alive. Using the device, players can slow the movements around them, which is effective for dodging missiles and gunfire. As a health item, time in Sine Mora is important. In most spaceships shooters, a single hit will kill the player. however, in Sine Mora, time is a health item. There are no health bars, meaning the player has more chances of survival. however, each hit will take seconds off the clock, putting the player in peril.
Sine Mora was originally released on Steam, PlayStation 3, and the PlayStation Vita in 2012. The game was met with critical and commercial acclaim, with many lauding its incredible contemporary visual style that is reminiscent of a Studio Ghibli film, while also praising the gameplay mechanics and difficulty. Sine Mora EX is an enhanced version of Sine Mora, being published and released by the newly formed THQ Nordic. Announced at PAX EAST this past March, Sine Mora EX is a full refinement and enhancement of the original game.
