Pokemon Go didn’t end when the craze died down a little late last year. Themed events, holidays, and special Pokemon offerings kept the game fresh for those of us dedicated enough to stick with it, and Pokemon Go’s biggest update appears to be hitting some time this week.
While catching Pokémon, Trainers can use two new Berries—the Nanab Berry, which slows a Pokémon’s movements, and the Pinap Berry, which doubles the amount of Candy received if the next catch attempt succeeds. Trainers will also be able to customize their avatar’s appearance with a new selection of hats, shirts, pants, and other items. Additional items will be available for purchase from the in-game Pokémon GO shop.
The game is taking more from its RPG ancestors by using berries, and letting certain Kanto Pokemon from the original game reach their evolved forms. From Blissey to Scizor to Kingdra to Steelix, there’s a lot more to work with if you’ve been saving your older Pokemon.
