Meet The Stacks: San Francisco

The Stacks program is an amazing opportunity for current and prior service members and civilians to get together, create a safe and supporting group of friends, and share stories on their adventures of their careers, be it service or on a game pad. But, who are the people who join The Stacks? Well, here is a look into some of the members of the San Francisco Stack.

Josh Burke

Members of The Stacks: San Francisco

My name is Josh Burke, and my Xbox gamer tag is xDonDunklerx.

I was born in Georgia, and lived there for a large part of my life. I have spent the majority of my adult life in a Law Enforcement career. I spent 8 years in the U.S. Army National Guard. My primary MOS is 13F (Forward Observer) and I have a secondary MOS as a 31B (Military Police).

Why did you want to join Stack-Up?

I heard about Stack-Up through a military oriented game streaming group. I joined Stack-Up to help military veterans through the hardships of military life, deployments, and life in general, by whatever means necessary. Video games are an escape from the harsh realities of life. It gives me a way to do anything, and be anything I want, at least for a moment.

What’s your favorite video game?

Umm, this can change in the blink of an eye, but at the moment, no, just anything that comes along. preferably cooperative.

What was your earliest video game console and game?

Earliest I can remember is playing co-op Super Mario Bros on SNES.

Why do you want to help veterans?

Because I have a personal connection with veterans, and I believe that there should be alternative ways to deal with the issues that arise during, and after, anyone’s military service.

Have you enjoyed the events that Stack-Up has put together?

I, unfortunately, have not been able to attend any Stack-Up events just yet, as I have just recently moved to this area, but look forward to helping out in every way possible.

Garett

California/Nevada Co-Director and San Francisco Stack Lead, Anthony with Stack member, Garrett.

My name is Garrett.

I’m all about gaming and supporting those who defend my freedom to do so.

I’m not a veteran, but I have great respect for those who serve our country. I heard about Stack-Up through my buddy Anthony, who is a veteran himself, and I joined because I was looking for a way to give back. I’m an avid gamer and primarily play FPS games. I do enjoy the RTS genre, but I have yet to find a decent game. I started with Sega Master when I was about 5 years old and have been playing since. I followed with Sega Genesis, N64, PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, and now I primarily use PC.

You can join Anthony, Josh, and Garrett at future San Francisco Stack-Up events by joining their Stack here, and can also support the great work they do for their local community, and around the world, by donating to their Call to Arms fundraising page.
